Clifton W. Albright


(California State Bar No. 100020) is the President of Albright, Yee & Schmit, APC, a California based law firm formed in 1982 and specializing in providing legal representation for employment, labor and tort defense to governmental and private entities.  Mr. Albright has an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell.  A 1980 graduate of Loyola Law School licensed to practice law in the State of California, Mr. Albright spent five years as counsel for Lloyds Bank California, specializing in representing the institution and its related companies in affirmative and defense litigation which included labor law, lender liability and real estate litigation as well as commercial transactional matters.

Mr. Albright as a trial lawyer has been involved in numerous State and Federal jury trials to verdict.  He also has a successful Appellate record.  As President, Mr. Albright oversees the firm's litigation.  In addition to litigation, Mr. Albright negotiates business transactions, and conducts employment investigations and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) compliance audits.  Mr. Albright is also a seminar presenter and conducts continuing education programs for attorneys, executives and employees in such areas as employment/labor law, business management, and complex litigation.  He is a member of several Bar organizations, including the American Bar Association, National Bar Association, Orange County, Los Angeles and the Beverly Hills Bar Associations.

On December 10, 2010 and on March 14, 2014, Mr. Albright was appointed by former President Barack Obama, and on February 28, 2018, reappointed by President Donald Trump to the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Small and Minority Business (ITAC 11).  ITAC works closely with the Secretary of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative to enhance trade between the United States and other countries.  Mr. Albright travels to Washington, D.C. and other locations to meet with government officials and others involved in international trade and trade relations.  He was awarded the 2017 Lawyer of the Year by the Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce (GLAAACC).

Albright, Yee & Schmit, APC currently represents the County of Los Angeles, City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), Southern California Edison, Commerce Casino, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (DWP), Toyota, the Water Replenishment District of Southern California (WRD), and DirecTV in labor, employment and tort matters.  The firm also has extensive experience in construction law and tort defense.

The firm is certified by the City of Los Angeles, the County of Los Angeles, and several other agencies as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE).  It is also certified as a Small Business Enterprise (SBE) with the State of California.
