The College Admissions Scandal – Are you an Early Decision applicant who was wait listed and then denied admission to Georgetown University between 2012 and 2018?  You may have an excellent case for damages.

As revealed on or about March 12, 2019, dozens of parents, coaches and college executives were indicted for manipulating the admissions process at multiple, elite universities. 

Though federal prosecutors claim the universities are victims in this despicable, nationwide scheme, the indictment suggests a pervasive, open and fraudulent admissions scheme that the universities either should have known about or did know about and tacitly approved.  It is becoming increasingly likely that the admissions process for certain universities was advertised to the public one way, when it actually functioned entirely differently as a pay to play process for wealthy families.

Of concern are instances where wealthy parents bribed administrators, coaches or other university officials to designate certain applicants as favored candidates, thereby facilitating the applicants’ admission to those universities, possibly at the expense of other, more qualified applicants who were then denied admission.  In short, the universities failed to take adequate steps to safeguard against fraud, depriving applicants of a fair shot.

For example, prosecutors allege a former Georgetown tennis coach was paid more than $2.7 million in bribes from 2012 to 2018. In exchange, prosecutors said, the Georgetown employee designated at least twelve applicants as tennis recruits, including some who did not even play tennis competitively.  This suggests a negligent (and possibly fraudulent) breakdown of oversight over the admissions process by the university itself.

If, at any time between 2012-2018, you applied to Georgetown University under the Early Decision, Early Decision II or Single-Choice Early Action options, were then placed on the wait list, and ultimately denied admission, we want to hear from you ASAP.

NOTE: There is already at least one class action lawsuit pending in California against Georgetown and other universities.  Our Firm, however, is interested in pursuing individual cases tailored to unique facts, not a class action. This is why we are looking for Early Decision applicants.  It is possible, due to the exclusive commitment involved in the Early Decision process, that you have a better claim for damages than those applicants who were denied admission outright.
